Turning hearts

“See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.” Malachi 4:5-6

(Over 400 years pass after those words are recorded in a prophesy...)

"And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” Luke 1:18 (The angel Gabriel talking to Zechariah, the future father of John the Baptist.)

"Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God." John 1:12-13

Luke 1 and John 1 were my daily chapters for today! And Malachi 4 was in my daily reading yesterday!

God sent Jesus to heal his broken family. The King of Kings missed his children so dearly. He longed to adopt them and take back home, give them His name, protect them under His wing. You can't be born into God's family, you have to be adopted! But adoption is very expensive. A price must be paid. The life of Jesus was our price. Is there any greater love than this?
